Eighty percent of coating failures are due to improper surface preparation. Every part that passes through Astral Products will encounter metal preparation prior to coating. They will be free from all paints, oils and dirt. Newly manufactured parts will be cleaned and iron phosphated. Old parts will be media blasted before coating.
 

Astral Products can perform various testing methods for the discerning customer. They include mil thickness tests, cross-hatch adhesion tests, water break free tests, pencil hardness, and solvent (MEK) rub tests. More sophisticated tests will require outside testing laboratories at additional cost.

GREEN INITIATIVE
 

Astral Products strives to be a green company. Compared to wet paint, powder coating eliminates VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) from being emitted into the atmosphere. In addition, powder coating, with its more durable finishes, eliminates the need for frequent re-painting. Powder coating is also less wasteful since up to 90% of the powder resin is used in the process. The waste powder is 100% landfillable. We minimize water and chemical usage, using recirculating and dust collection systems. We also reuse customer packaging to minimize impact on landfill space.
